Do you want to be remembered by an old username that makes little sense? On top of that, streamers with creative usernames connected to their brands attract more people to their streams, which is essentially your goal as a content creator.

Aside from showing you how to change your Twitch user name, this article will provide you with interesting Twitch tricks you can try today.

Changing Your Username on Twitch

Since changing Twitch usernames was not initially possible, this was the most requested feature to be added to the platform.

Luckily, Twitch developers listened to the users’ complaints, making name-changing possible on February 24, 2017.

Here is how to alter your Twitch username:

  1. Log in to your Twitch account.
  2. Navigate to your Profile Settings.

  3. Click on the Edit button (which looks like a pen) in the Username field.
  4. Enter your new Twitch username.

If the username you entered is already in use, you will see a message notifying you to try something else. If no one owns your new username, a green check mark will appear, and you will be okay to proceed.

The final step requires you to click the Update button and enter your Twitch password to verify your changes.

Once you have done everything, Twitch will automatically update your username and channel URL, so you do not have to worry about that.

Some users also worry they will lose their subscribers and followers if they change their usernames. While creating a new Twitch account with a new username means you will have to start from scratch, a simple username change will not make you lose your subscribers.
