The Expansion Pass for Pokemon Sword and Shield introduced plenty of content, from new Pokemon to rivals. You’ll also get to visit the new Isle of Armor location, where Legendary Pokemon and fresh storylines await. However, there are a few conditions to fulfill before you can head there.
If you’re unsure how to get to the Isle of Armor or didn’t get the message, keep reading. We’ll guide you through the process and prerequisites. You’ll also find out what to prioritize catching and obtaining.
What Do You Need to Go to the Isle of Armor
Here’s a small list of requirements to meet before you can reach the Isle of Armor:
- The DLC
You have to purchase the Expansion Pass itself before you can visit the Isle. Once you buy the DLC, you’ll receive a notification telling you of the Armor Pass in your inventory. With the Armor Pass, traveling to the Isle of Armor is now possible.
If you know that you purchased the Expansion Pass but haven’t updated the game, head to the Switch’s home screen and close the game to update Pokemon Sword or Shield. Doing so usually makes the Armor Pass pop up.
- Visit the Wild Area at least once
The Wild Area is a location you’ll reach by playing the main story. You’ll arrive by playing for around two hours or less if you manage to move quickly. If you haven’t gone to the Wild Area, you won’t get the Armor Pass notification.
Once you complete both requirements, you can start your journey to the Isle of Armor.
Getting to the Isle of Armor
After the Armor Pass, you can head to Wedgehurst Station. Upon reaching the station, follow these instructions:
- Talk to a man wearing a vest in the station.
- The man will comment on your Armor Pass, saying you can use it to head to the Isle of Armor.
- You’ll get into a Corviknight Flying Taxi.
- After a short wait, you’ll arrive at the Isle of Armor, where a new series of events will trigger.
If you haven’t updated the game after purchasing the Expansion Pass, the man in a vest won’t mention the Armor Pass at all.
Isle of Armor Attractions
Among the Isle of Armor’s many rewards is the Legendary Pokemon Kubfu. You’ll get it as part of the Isle of Armor storyline. The storyline will also eventually let you evolve Kubfu into Urshifu.
Urshifu is unique in that he has two secondary types. Depending on the scroll of either Tower of Two Fists, it can be Fighting/Dark or Fighting/Water. Reaching the end of the story on the Isle of Armor also lets you unlock Urshifu’s Gogantamax form, and it has one for each Style.
Other new Pokemon includes:
- Galarian Slowpoke
- Galarian Slowbro
- Zarude
There are also 102 returning Pokemon from previous Pokemon titles. These Pokemon may appear in other areas, though you need the Expansion Pass to catch them.
You can also gather new items and play side quests introduced in the DLC.
Train the Legendary Armor Pokemon
The Isle of Armor is home to Kubfu and Urshifu, the latter being the evolved form of the former. This Pokemon is unique in that you can pick its secondary type. There’s no reason to delay traveling to the Isle once you have the Armor Pass, as you can get a Legendary Pokemon quickly.
