One of the most popular games on the Wii was Wii Sports, and fans have been begging for years for a sequel to come to the Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo Switch Sports Officially Announced

Now it seems that prayers have been answered as Nintendo Direct 2022 has officially announced the arrival of Nintendo Switch Sports. Watch this:

Introducing a new iteration of the Wii Sports series, Nintendo Switch Sports! Play sports such as Bowling, Tennis, & Chambara as well as three new additional sports including Soccer, Badminton, and Volleyball.

Admittedly, there are some sports that haven’t been included from the previous iteration of the game like Boxing, but it has been said that a free update this fall will be adding Golf to the mix. Another much earlier update coming this summer will expand on the Leg Strap accessory that will be essential for Soccer.

Besides the upcoming sports, fans have also noticed the updated Miis for the game. Hopefully there’ll also be a way to translate the look of your existing Miis into the new avatar model for Switch Sports.

With the Wii being praised for its multitude of active games, the Switch has been criticized for having a limited library when it comes to this type of genre. We do know that Golf is in the way, but hopefully we can keep looking at some more expansions down the line for this title.

The game is now available for pre-order here.

Nintendo Switch Sports officially launches on April 29.
