Alone in the Dark was a survival horror game that came out in the 90s, and it was considered to be the granddaddy of the genre, influencing titles like Resident Evil. Now THQ Nordic has announced their remake of the game, and we get to follow another group of characters be terrorized by the Derceto Manor.

Here’s the official description:
Deep in the 1920’s south, Emily Hartwood’s uncle has gone missing. Together with private investigator Edward Carnby, she embarks on a journey to Derceto Manor to uncover the secrets of this mysterious place and the circumstances of her relative’s vanishing.
Encounter strange residents, nightmarish realms, dangerous monsters and ultimately unveil a plot of rising evil. At the intersection of reality, mystery, and insanity, an adventure waits that will challenge your core beliefs. Who can you trust, what will you believe, and what will you do next?
Looking back at the original Alone in the Dark, you’ll notice that there are a lot of elements from the game that they kept in the reboot—but everything has been given a modern flair. Just like how the Resident Evil remakes have become shooters, it looks like the Alone in the Dark reboot is going the same direction.
I’m sure though, that a lot of fans will enjoy how they took the cartoonish, colourful original and upped the creep factor for the reboot with some horrifying monsters and darker setting.
No release date has been announced for the Alone in the Dark reboot, but it is expected to launch for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
