A lot of players have been having fun with the mods coming out for Insomniac’s Spider-Man on PC, but one mod had made the rounds when it was made to remove all the Pride flags from the game and replace them with American flags.
According to IGN, modding websites have decided to take a stand against anti-LGBTQ+ content, and they have released statements condemning anyone who tries to make games less inclusive.
Nexus Mods had written:
“We are for inclusivity, we are for diversity… we have a right to choose what content we do and do not want to host on our platform.”
They even went on to say that the user who had shared the anti-LGBT mod was a ‘coward’ and had created a sock puppet account to upload their mod. The statement continues:
“The fact the user needed to make a sock puppet like a coward to upload the mod showed their intent to troll and that they knew it would not be allowed. Had they not been a coward and had they used their main account instead, we would have simply removed the mod and told them that we did not want to host it, only banning them if they reuploaded it again after being fairly warned.”
ModDB had also done something with the anti-pride mod:
With the size of communities online, it’s admittedly hard to make sure content like this doesn’t come out, but at least we know that the higher-ups are all for championing more inclusive values.
