Supergiant Games’ Hades was one of the more celebrated rogue-like games when it came out back in 2018, and the studio is now looking to release the sequel—Hades II—next year. Thanks to The Game Awards, we now have a look at the highly-anticipated Hades II.

Check this out:

With the first game focusing on the character of Zagreus, the sequel will now give the spotlight to his sister Melinoe who is also said to be a character from the original Greek mythology. Supergiant wrote in their FAQ page for the game:

“Like her brother Zagreus from the original game, Melinoë is not a character of our own invention, and is based on an ancient Underworld deity thought to be related to Hades… What little ancient mythology exists about her was more than enough to make us want to explore her story and connection to her family, and in so doing, expand on our vision of the Underworld.”

It shouldn’t go without saying that the original Hades was lauded for having a very unique and original take when it came to the Greek gods, so we should expect more of the same with this sequel. With Supergiant notorious for not making sequels though, a lot of fans are curious as to why they would  want to continue the Hades franchise.

They probably have something special under their sleeve if they want to break their golden rule.

No specific release date for Hades II has been revealed, but we should expect more details and early access to drop sometime in 2023. As for now, you can play the original Hades on Nintendo Switch, PayStation 4|5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
