Bandai Namco is gearing up for the release of the next King of Iron Fist tournament game, and though we don’t have a release date yet, the roster has been slowly getting revealed one fighter at a time. Now we have a look at another classic character King.
Check him out:
You don’t need a crown to be a King.
Wrestle your way to the top in #TEKKEN8!
Just like the previously announced fighters, King has been a franchise mainstay in Tekken, and has been around since the first game. King is inspired by the Luchador culture of Mexico, and uses mainly pro-wrestler moves in the ring, including some signature grabs and taunts.
Canonically, this is actually the second King in the game, with the original one in the canon having been killed by Ogre. Take note, he isn’t the same character as Armor King, who is also the second version of that character, and has a rivalry with the original King.
Tekken has always had a tradition of all kinds of colorful characters, and King is probably one of the few to stand out. I’m just hoping they bring back the rest of the Tekken wrestling fam including newest addition Jaycee (who is just Julia, but the wrestling persona has always been a fun addition).
Here’s the official overview for Tekken 8:
Developed by Bandai Namco Studios, Tekken 8 pushes the envelope for fighting games and takes full advantage of the power of the latest generation of consoles by creating one of the most visually stunning and immersive titles in the genre yet. Tekken 8 picks up after the gruesome battle that ended in Heihachi Mishima’s defeat, focusing on a new rivalry pitting father against son as Jin Kazama stands in defiance against Kazuya Mishima’s quest for world dominance.
Tekken 8 still has no release date, but it’s possible they could be launching the game later this year.
