The Legend of Zelda: There are Already Plans for a Tears of the Kingdom Sequel

With half a decade between the release of both Zelda games, many fans think it will be a while before the follow-up to Tears, but director Hidemaro Fujibayashi already has plans.

As confirmed to New York Times writer Zachary Small, Fujibayashi says he ‘already has plans for the next Zelda game,’ but hasn’t told producer Eiji Aonuma. Here’s the post:

We don’t have any details about where the sequel could go, but as far as Zelda games, we should always expect Link, Zelda, and Ganon to return, with the story taking place in an all-new version of Hyrule. If anything, it was a surprise that Tears of the Kingdom was a sequel to Breath of the Wild, but with the first game so beloved, it kind of made sense that they would want to expand on this continuity.

With Tears of the Kingdom having an all-new emphasis on crafts and building, I can only imagine where the sequel could go next. By then, I suspect Nintendo would have already released a more powerful version of the Switch, but we can only wait and see what happens.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available for the Nintendo Switch.
