Formula 1 racing isn’t for everyone, and that’s OK, but for those of us who like it, we’re all in for a treat later this year, courtesy of Codemasters. The developer has announced today that F1 2020 will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google’s new streaming platform, Stadia, on July 10th, 2020.
However, if you really, really like Formula 1, you can pre-order the Michael Schumacher Deluxe Edition which grants exclusive content and three days early access.
For the first time in the series’ history, F1 2020 will offer ‘My Team’. This is a new game mode that allows players to create their own F1 team and take their place alongside the already established 2020 competitors, along with a brand new driver-manager experience that should offer unique insights into the world of F1. It’s more than just going really fast, you know.
In My Team and the already established Career mode, players will have more flexibility with the choice of three season lengths. You can opt for a full 22 race season, a shorter 16 race season, or a much shorter 10 race season. Perfect for knocking out a season on a Sunday afternoon.
There’s two-player split-screen as well as online multiplayer, so you won’t always have to race alone – unless you want to. And that’s fine too. The single-player modes in these games are really deep, and I played last year’s game almost exclusively single-player.
If you go for the F1 2020 Deluxce Schumacher Edition, you’ll get to drive as the legend himself in four of his most iconic cars. You’ll also bag some exclusive content that includes themed car liveries and customisation items, and a unique podium celebration. You’ll need to get on the podium to enjoy it though. The four cars you’ll get are:
· 1991: Jordan 191
· 1994: Benetton B194
· 1995: Benetton B195
· 2000: Ferrari F1-2000
“F1® 2020 promises to be our biggest and most innovative title to date,” said Paul Jeal, F1® Franchise Director at Codemasters. “Our core players will welcome even greater gameplay depth with the introduction of our brand-new My Team feature, alongside three customisable season lengths which allows them to pick their favourite tracks. In the year where Lewis Hamilton is going for his seventh World Championship, we celebrate the greatest F1® driver of all time with our Michael Schumacher Deluxe Edition, which we know will prove popular with our community.”
“As huge fans of F1®, we continue to innovate and develop game modes that bring players even closer to the real-world sport,” said Lee Mather, F1® Game Director at Codemasters. “We’ve also added new modes to enable more casual players to get up to speed more easily, and we’ve brought back split-screen for social play with friends. The additions reduce both the difficulty and time barrier to entry while retaining the car handling that our simulation players love.”
