Dating Sims and Metroidvania games are two very different sides of the gaming coin, but The Deep End Games have managed to bring the two together for their monster-mash up dating game Romancelvania.

Romancelvania is exactly what it sounds like: a cross between Metroidvanias and dating sims. The developers describe the game on their own official website as “a story-rich vampire dating sim” and “a darkly comic genre mashup, combining side-scrolling action and tongue-in-cheek romance into an absurd and unforgettable adventure.”
The game basically takes all the classic movie monsters from Dracula, to the Wolf Man, and puts them all into one dating sim, but instead of navigating conversations and feelings, you have to go through some classic, side-scrolling levels. You get a pick between two different types of Dracs, and it’s up to you to find true love in this world of creepy monsters.
I’ll have to say, it’s definitely a unique premise, and the character art is pretty fun. I mean, it’s no Hades, but this should be an interesting take on the genre—both for Metroidvania and dating sims. I’d say it’s the perfect game for the Halloween season, but we don’t have to wait until October to check out Romancelvania.
Romancelvania is now available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4|5.
