Fans though Hideo Kojima was teasing a whole new franchise with those photos of Elle Fanning and Shioli Kutsuna a few months back, but as it turns out, it was all just for the Death Stranding sequel—which has been officially revealed thanks to the Game Awards.
Check this out:
Though Fanning and Kutsuna are new cast members to the franchise, we will be getting the return of Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, and Troy Baker. We don’t know who Baker plays in this game, but some suspect he could be the crimson-clad character at the very end of the preview.
Like with every first reveal for a game, Kojima Productions has decided to keep mum about the plot for Death Stranding 2, but I’m sure we’ll be in for another Kojima-level type of experience. Let’s just hope it doesn’t predict the future like the first game actually did with the pandemic.
We don’t have an official description for Death Stranding 2 yet, but here’s the description for the first game, just in case you haven’t checked it out yet:
From legendary game creator Hideo Kojima comes an all-new, genre-defying open world action adventure for PS4, starring Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux and Lindsay Wagner.
In the near future, mysterious explosions have rocked the globe, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With otherworldly creatures plaguing the landscape, and mass extinction imminent, it’s up to Sam Porter Bridges to travel across the ravaged wasteland and save humanity from impending annihilation.
No release date has been announced for Death Stranding 2, but if I were to make a guess, I think a release sometime in 2024 or 2025 is realistic.
