Destiny 2‘s Season of the Splicer has officially kicked off, and already, the content drop is looking to be a wild one. There’s a new mission; one with a very confusing directional arrow that is certain to kill you within the first three minutes. And there are all sorts of new features and changes to check out. But if there’s a single thing you shouldn’t miss, it’s all the lore the game drops on you about the Fallen.

Destiny 2: Season of the Splicer - Don't miss these lore Easter eggs

(Spoilers are officially turned on.)

After you complete the opening mission in Season of the Splicer, you are transported to a very recognizable place in Destiny 2: the site in the Last City where you fought Insurrection Prime. The Eliksni (Fallen) of The House of Light have been invited by Ikora Rey to take refuge in this part of the City. Once you arrive, they are already beginning to make the place feel like home.

Once you speak with Mithrax, Osiris, and Lakshmi-2 (welcome back), you are given the next step in your opening quest. At this point, a lot of players will undoubtedly transmat themselves right out and head to the Helm.

Don’t do that. Don’t be like them.

Instead, what you should do is hop around the space, seek out various Eliksni objects that have an “Interact” prompt, and do what the prompt says. Many have a voice recording attached to them left by Mithrax’s daughter, Eido, who is House Light’s scribe.

Eido — who was named after the Awoken’s Sjur Eido — goes into great detail about many Eliksni traditions. She talks about what Ether is and why it is necessary, for example. She also provides more insight into the complicated relationship the Eliksni have had with Guardians over their shared history.

These are lore bits that you could very easy miss as you scramble to start checking off boxes in Destiny 2‘s Season of the Splicer. Fortunately, if you leave without checking them out, there’s a way to go back. You’ll find an icon for “Last City: Eliksni Quarter” under the “Helm” in Destiny 2‘s Director. That’ll take you to where Mithrax and his people are sheltering. Alternatively, you could just watch the video above (credit to Esoterickk).
