Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 features a much bigger game world than either of the past Spider-Man titles spawned by Insomniac Games, which means you’ll likely find yourself locked in fights against various enemies around New York more often. But while Peter Parker and Miles Morales’ bodies are practically as durable as steel, their suits aren’t nearly as indestructible.

The past Spider-Man games have featured suit damage in one way or another, but does the newest Spider-Man game have the same suit damage feature? Read on to find out.

Is there Suit Damage in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will have suit damage, so expect to see Peter Parker’s or Miles Morales’ Spider-Man suits get torn up and discolored when you take damage against tougher enemies or when you take fall damage.

Unlike the previous game, where you only get suit damage in Story-related fights, in Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man suits will tear and rip apart even as you fight against seemingly normal enemies, making suit damage much more realistic.

Suit damage effects are also said to apply to not just a select few suits but all Spider-Man suits in the game, which means you just might be able to remake that torn-up Tobey Maguire Spider-Man suit train meme in-game and take a neat photo of it through Spider-Man 2’s Photo Mode.

How many suits will be in Spider-Man 2?

There are around 65 Spider-Man unlockable suits in Spider-Man 2. Many of the other suits featured in Spider-Man 2 also include Insomniac Games’ original suit designs and classic Spider-Man suits found in the comics. Peter Parker and Miles Morales will get an equally impressive collection of suits, many featuring multiple design and color variations.

Some of the more recognizable ones include the classic Tobey Maguire Spider-Man suit featured in 2002’s Spider-Man, the Into the Spider-Verse Suit worn by Miles Morales in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the Homemade Suit worn by Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, and the iconic symbiote Webbed Black Suit worn by Tobey Maguire in 2007’s Spider-Man 3.

Will the black Spider-Man suit be in Spider-Man 2?

Yes, you can unlock the iconic black Symbiote Spider-Man suit (as seen in 2007’s Spider-Man 3) in Spider-Man 2. In-game, the suit is called the Webbed Black Suit.

Aside from the movie-derived black Spider-Man costume, you can also unlock multiple other black-themed Spider-Man suits in Spider-Man 2.

  • Black Suit (Insomniac Games original design)
  • Symbiote Suit (similar design to the Black Suit)
  • Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit
  • Classic Black Suit (inspired by the 1984 Secret Wars #8 Spider-Man costume)
  • Forever Suit (Black Panther-inspired black suit)
  • King in Black Suit (Knull-inspired Spider-Man suit)

There are also many other black suit variants for non-black-exclusive Spider-Man suits, such as the black Boricua Suit and the black Absolute Carnage Suit variant for Miles Morales.

Final Thoughts

Suit damage is not only present in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but it has also improved significantly from the first two games in the series. Gone are the days when you only get suit damage in story-exclusive fights, as you now get suit damage even when you take damage from less powerful enemies in Spider-Man 2. The updated suit damage effect is a welcome addition and will help give Peter and Miles’ suits some much-needed realism.
