Enter Arrakis in Announcement for Dune Awakening

Just in, we have an announcement trailer for Dune Awakening, and it promises an open-world Arrakis for multiple players to share. Watch this:

The official description for the game reads:

Rise from survival to dominance in Dune: Awakening, an Open World Survival MMO set on a vast and seamless Arrakis shared by thousands of players.

We don’t have any details beyond that, but I can already imagine that players will be given the option to choose which houses they’ll be a part of—whether it be for the Atreides, or the Harkonnens. Of course, there are several other factions in Dune like the Fremen and the Empire, but I guess that the Atreides/Harkonnen conflict has always been at the center of the story, so they would likely get the spotlight. That being said, I’m always open for more options.

With Dune promising a huge world to explore, we should also expect a variety of transport options in the game. While I’m sure riding a sandworm in on the table, I think the dragonfly-esque ornithopters are also cool. I wouldn’t mind driving one of those sandcrawler/spice miners either.

No release date has been set for Dune Awakening yet, but it’s set to come out for new-gen consoles the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, as well as PC. Dune: Part Two comes to cinemas on Nov. 17, 2023.
