The Evil Dead game may have released back in May, and though Halloween has come and gone, the developers have a big treat this November post-spooky season.
In an official announcement, it’s been revealed that Evil Dead: The Game will be available for free for a limited time on the Epic Games Store. Here’s the announcement:
With the game coming out for free, a lot of fans are expecting some kind of catch, but for now, I guess it’s just great that they’ll be able to get access to a $40 game. Some suspect that this is because Evil Dead: The Game isn’t doing so great when it comes to numbers, but maybe this massive surge of players can change the tune of the game moving forward.
If anything, the game pretty much takes the format of Dead by Daylight and has Ash and friends try to survive the different creatures that come to plague them (played by another player). Personally I prefer narrative-driven stories, but I’m sure there’s a lot of fun to be had with Evil Dead: The game, even for people who haven’t watched the films.
Here’s the official game description:
Step into the shoes of Ash Williams or his friends from the iconic Evil Dead franchise and work together in a game loaded with over-the-top co-op and PVP multiplayer action! Play as a team of four survivors, exploring, looting, managing your fear, and finding key items to seal the breach between worlds in a game inspired by all three original Evil Dead films as well as the STARZ original Ash vs Evil Dead television series.
Evil Dead: The Game will be free from Nov. 17–Nov. 22. The game is currently playable for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4|5.
