It looks like the rumors are true.
A few months ago, it was rumored that Square Enix was going to delay the release of their new IP Forspoken, which was expected to launch this October. As per a new announcement though, it looks we’ll have to wait for the title until 2023.
Here’s the official announcement of the delay:
Originally set to come out this October, Forspoken is now set to make a release on January 24, 2023. While we don’t have an official reason for the delay, rumors have suggested that Square didn’t want the game to compete with their more recognized Final Fantasy brand. Though it was said that FFXVI was the reason Forspoken was pushed back, we now know that the FF game releasing later this year is Crisis Core – Final Fantasy VII – Reunion.
Though the release date is still close to FF, think that Square is thinking about the fans who aren’t into Final Fantasy, and Crisis Core has always been more of a companion piece to the lore of FFVII. That being said, Forspoken does look like an interesting Isekai adventure, and I’m sure Ms. Marvel fans will find something similar between Frey and Kamala Khan.
Frey is pushed to her limit in the strange and cruel land of Athia. She must use her magic-enhanced combat and parkour abilities to survive against the fearsome, twisted creatures that lurk in the Break.
Square Enix’s Forspoken is now set to launch this Jan. 24, 2023.
