It’s no mystery that God of War Ragnarok has kept a tight lid on its story, but as early as now, leaks have been going around online of clips and story points from the game. Now Santa Monica Studios has decided to release an official statement regarding the spoilers and is urging the online community to stop the spread for the sake of its own fans.
Here’s the announcement:
‘We ask that you please be considerate of the many fans who do not want to accidentally see clips, gameplay, or narrative spoilers and avoid sharing them wider,’ reads the announcement.
With only a few more weeks till release, it is kind of a shame that some elements of Ragnarok have found themselves online, especially with the way that Santa Monica has been very secretive about the whole story.
Though there really is no controlling anyone who wants to leak plot points, the studio does advise you to mute any keywords or hashtags associated with the game, so that you can have a cleaner slate in your head space when it finally launches.
Though some may think that spoilers are virtually harmless, sometimes they can affect the reception of the game—especially when they take very risqué moves when it comes to the story. Let’s not forget the early vitriol that The Last of Us Part II got when leaks had exposed that Joel was going to die early into the game’s story.
It’s amazing what kind of hateful energy these gamer communities can muster.
God of War Ragnarok is set to launch for PlayStation 4|5 on Nov. 9.
