With the new-gen of consoles just recently launching, several games that are coming out are still making way for the old-gen to be able to run them. Based on a recent announcement though, it may be too bad for any old-gen gamers who were looking forward to Gotham Knights.
According to IGN, a recent announcement from WB Interactive has revealed that old-gen versions of Gotham Knight for the PS4 and Xbox One have been cancelled. No official reason has been given, unless you count the statement that it would, “provide players with the best possible gameplay experience.”
With the Arkham gays already pretty extensive when it comes to their open-world, we should probably expect the same when it comes to Gotham Knights. If anything, this might actually bode well for people who wanted a much larger game than previous Arkham installments.
Though it is a bummer that the game won’t be available for the old-gen, this decision may ultimately be for the best. If anything, CD Projekt Red had dug themselves in a grave when they said that Cyberpunk 2077 was good for old-gen consoles—and we all know how that turned out. Maybe down the line there could be a Gotham Knights for the old gen, but I guess we shouldn’t expect it to come out at launch this October.
Batman, Jim Gordon – they thought they had a handle on #GothamCity, but there are hidden forces at play that no one talks about. It is up to the #GothamKnights – #Batgirl, #Nightwing, #RedHood, and #Robin – to uncover the secrets of this city’s past before it’s too late. But beware, the #CourtofOwls is always watching, always listening.
Gotham Knights will launch for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on Oct. 25.
