Though Nintendo Direct was intended to give us a look at the exclusives coming to the Switch, we also got a look at a multi-platform title coming from Bandai Namco with SD Gundam Battle Alliance. Check it out:
The game promises to bring together mechs from all corners of the Gundam franchise, from the Universal Century canon to parallel universes like Iron Blooded Orphans or Gundam Wing. The game even has access to the more cartoon-y entries in the franchise like Mobile Fighter G Gundam.
Even if the game does focus on the chibi version of these mobile suits, the game still promises a plot that players can jump into. Here’s the official description:
The story takes place in G: Universe, a world where Gundam canon twists and turns in ways no one can predict.
To correct this world’s distorted history, the player leads a 3-unit squadron consisting of Mobile Suits and pilots from across Gundam history – a true Battle Alliance.
What Awaits Beyond False History…
With so many memorable mobile suits throughout the franchise, there’s probably no chance that all of them can make it to the game. Then again, it does open up the door for some DLC content, which is sure to keep the profit flowing for Bandai Namco. Let’s just hope the base game manages to cover all our fan favorites.
SD Gundam Battle Alliance comes to the Switch, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC later this year.
