House fire is among the many causes of death and destruction for Sims. Whether you intend to or not, Sims has a chance to start a fire when they are cooking, especially if you let them prepare a meal despite having poor cooking skills. But what if your Sim wants to become a renowned chef even if they are eternally cursed to provoke a fire every time they cook?

How to Complete the Unlucky Chef Scenario in The Sims 4

The Sims 4’s scenarios offer story-focused challenges with different outcomes based on the choices you make for your Sims. Some of the most intriguing scenarios revolve around Sims with huge aspirations who encounter career setbacks due to their shortcomings. The Unlucky Chef scenario may be labeled as hard, but try not to get intimidated by its difficulty level. You can complete this challenge if you follow all the tips in this guide!

About the Unlucky Chef Scenario

The Unlucky Chef scenario is about a Sim who aspires to become a world-famous chef, ignoring that they have terrible luck in handling kitchen appliances. Every time your Sim tries to cook on a stove or a microwave, there is an extremely high possibility for them to start a fire and possibly die from this incident. But your Sim will stop at nothing to achieve its dream job at whatever cost. So be prepared to spend plenty of Simoleons replacing all the burnt stoves your Sim will inevitably incinerate.

Becoming a Celebrity Chef is the highest career rank Sims could achieve in their Culinary Profession. But there are two ways to end this scenario, and it will be up to you whether you do this the easy way or the hard way. Whichever path you choose, your Sims will be up there in the Hall of Fame with the likes of Gordon Ramsay, given that they achieve any of these milestones:

  1. Your Sim becomes a Celebrity Chef.
  2. Your Sim becomes a Celebrity Mixologist.

Create A (Fire Hazard) Sim

TUC CAS1

To get started on the Unlucky Chef scenario, you need to create or load up a young adult Sim or older.

If you want your Sim to live life on the edge and become a Celebrity Chef despite the risks, you can give them the Master Chef Aspiration and choose the Chef Career Branch.

Sims who are Creative get the inspired moodlet which helps them feel better when they whip up a meal. A Foodie Sim gets inspired to cook whenever they watch a cooking show. Moreover, they will be in a positive mood once they eat high-quality food; meanwhile. Eating lousy food will make them uncomfortable. Adding the Clumsy trait will add realism to the scenario, and being innately uncoordinated somewhat justifies your Sim’s luck when it comes to cooking.

But if you want your Sim to play it safe and give up their far-fetched dream, choose the Mixologist Career Path instead. You may give them the Master Mixologist aspiration to earn plenty of Satisfaction points as they build up their Bartending career.

No Celebrity Mixologist has ever made it big without being influential and inspiring others with their suave moves. They need to improve their Charisma and Mixology skills to get job promotions.

A Sim who’s Self-Assured gets the Confident moodlet, and having confidence makes leveling up skill much faster. Sims with an Outgoing trait can find joy in chatting up other Sims while they are off tending bars. Another trait that is best for Mixologists is the Neat trait. These Sims want everything to be clean and well-organized, so naturally, they would not let an untidy bar get in the way of mixing tasty drinks, thus becoming famous for this craft.

Simmers who do not have enough patience to deal with fires left and right may find this scenario a bit difficult to complete. However, there are ways to prevent house fires in this scenario or, at least, minimize the cost of the damage your Sim does to their kitchen.

Below are some of the methods you may use to help you pull through this challenge:

Buy a Cheaper Stove or Microwave

Who needs a fancy $4,000 stove when half the time your Sim could not even cook a meal on it without setting it on fire? Replacing a broken stove with a new one is the fastest way to get you back on track in your culinary pursuit, but not every Sim can afford that. When buying a stove, try to be economical but avoid buying the cheapest stove you can find as they can break easily and are more likely to catch fire.

Learn some Magic Spells (The Sims 4: Realm of Magic)

Sims who have mastered the spellcasting art must already have infinite wealth and wisdom that they do not need to waste time being practical. However, casting the Repairio spell to repair any scorched and broken objects around the house is an excellent way for Spellcasters to use their supernatural talent. Your Sim can also whip out their wand and use the Chillio spell to stop fires.

If your Sim is a newbie spellcaster, learning a spell is already a time-consuming process. However, once you have filled up your book of magic, you will find mundane chores like fixing objects and stopping fires are almost like a child’s play.

Turn your Sim into a Vegetarian

Not all food requires a stove to be cooked, and salad is the only meal your Sim can make that does not need a stove, grill, or kitchenware capable of combusting. If you are an expert Simmer, you would probably find that exploit in the game straightaway.

Have your Sim prepare some salad on the kitchen counter when they get hungry or need to level up their cooking skill. Your Sim can even accomplish their goal and end the scenario without touching the stove. Turning your Sim into a Vegetarian can also be very helpful in this situation since eating food that does not contain meat can put them in a good mood.

Enter a Cheat Code

For those keen on completing the scenario but have no intention of witnessing a Sim suffer through kitchen fires every five minutes, you can speed run through this whole thing by using a cheat code. To turn off fires in the game, activate the cheat bars and then input the code fire.toggle false.

A Celebrity Chef (or Mixologist) in the Making

TUC CelebChef

Any Sim who has a knack for cooking would derive satisfaction from becoming a chef. Working behind the camera while putting together a meal is what they would consider the pinnacle of success.

The Culinary profession is relatively easy to master, and Sims need to improve their Cooking and Mixology Skills to advance their career. Since eating is a Sim’s primordial need, they can easily fill up their skill bar by cooking to sustain their life. Reading cooking skill books and watching cooking shows can also help them get experience points.

To work on your Sim’s Mixology skill, you can purchase a full liquor bar so that they can regularly work on improving their bartending abilities. Alternatively, you could go to a club and make your Sim toss a few drinks behind the bar.

Like all aspiring chefs, the unlucky chef will begin working as a small fry with simple tasks and a minimum wage. We have written down below the early stages of your Sim’s Culinary career, including their hourly wage and promotion requirements:
