How to Farm Cookiecutter Sharks in Dave the Diver

More secrets are waiting to be discovered in the ocean’s depths than meets the eye. For Dave, however, this isn’t a problem. Exploring the Blue Hole daily is just a regular job routine for him.

He co-owns a sushi restaurant called “Bancho’s Sushi Bar”. In addition to running the ever-successful sushi place, Dave dons a diving suit and dives the Blue Hole. He dives into the ocean’s calm waters regularly to hunt for marine creatures that will later be prepared and sold at his sushi restaurant.

As diving in deeper depths requires good gear to survive, upgrading his diving equipment along the way is necessary and will be a big help. However, once you have the right diving equipment, you can easily catch more fish underwater.

As you go deeper into the ocean, you will likely encounter many troublesome marine creatures that won’t hesitate to take a bite out of you. And one of them is the Cookiecutter Shark.

What we know about Cookiecutter Sharks

If you want to find the location of a Cookiecutter Shark, you will have to dive deeper into the Blue Hole in depths between 130 to 250m. As it is quite deep, your beginner diving gear won’t cut it.

However, during the early stages of the game, diving too deep is also impossible. If you are unprepared and unequipped, Dave will comment that there is something wrong and will force you to return to the surface. This is because, as you go deeper into the ocean’s depths, your oxygen tank will deplete much faster than usual. So, you must wait for the game to progress to gain access to deeper depths.

You will need to complete a couple of missions and other requests to dive deeper into the depths of the Blue Hole. You should also consider upgrading your gears and weapons to prepare for harder underwater skirmishes. Eventually, Dave will get more and more missions that require him to dive deeper. This will indicate that you are ready to catch the deep-sea Cookiecutter Shark.

The Cookiecutter Shark stands out underwater due to its shimmering yellow body. Although it is slightly smaller than the other sharks, don’t let its petite figure fool you. This fish can deal massive damage and can eliminate you and drop your loot in an instant due to its speed. There are quite a few tips that can help you catch this rare and elusive creature.

Catching Cookiecutter Sharks

Using ranged weapons is the most suitable choice for catching this fish. You might also want to keep your distance from these creatures because they can land several attacks that can wipe you out quickly.

If you plan to harvest their loot, a Harpoon and Basic Underwater Rifle will do the job. However, if you plan to catch a Cookiecutter Shark, then an upgraded Tranquilizer weapon will work best. Using a Tranquillizer on the shark will put it to sleep so you can avoid killing it before catching it. The required upgrade for the tranquilizer “Hash Dart” is in its 4th-tier version. A tranquilized Cookiecutter Shark can be picked up as a whole and brought to the fish farm.

The Cookiecutter Shark weighs 5kg and is considered one of the rarest fishes to farm in Dave the Diver due to only one shark per dive. So, to make the most out of a single dive session, you must ensure that the shark you catch is always rated three stars.

Three-star fish provide the most meat and loot, but they must be caught alive without damage. Normally, you can use the Steel Net Sensor Trap or the Hush Dart Tranquillizer weapon. However, since sharks are considered large creatures, you cannot use the Steel Net Sensor Trap to catch them alive. So, your best bet is to use the Tranquillizer instead.

You can mass produce Cookiecutter Sharks through the use of the fish farm. When you’ve caught a couple or obtained some of their roe, you can breed them in your fish farm. In this manner, you won’t have to dive deep each time just to farm them. Just make sure that, when breeding them, you keep their capacity at 80% so you can get the most out of it.
