If there’s a game out there that changes how things work quite often, it’s Destiny 2. Take the distribution of Bright Dust, for example. You used to get this currency by completing Bounties. You used to be able to complete Bounties on three characters and collect a lot of Bright Dust. Then Bungie made some tweaks. If you’ve been out of the game for a while, you may be wondering how to get Bright Dust in Destiny 2. Where is all the Dust hiding? How are you supposed to buy that amazing new emote without it?

Fortunately, you can still earn a fair amount of Bright Dust. It’s not that batches of it just disappeared entirely — more that Bungie created more sources to offer it as a reward.

As of Destiny 2‘s Season of the Splicer, here’s where you can get some Bright Dust.

Bright Dust comes from many places

One of the most reliable sources for Bright Dust is your Seasonal Challenges. These are found on the Quests page, and give you a pile of Bright Dust in exchange for completing specific tasks. In Week 1 of Season of the Splicer, for example, you’re asked to use close-range weapons to kill enemies on Europa. Putting down enough of them will get you a Bright Dust reward.

Those wondering how to get Bright Dust in Destiny 2 can also complete Weekly Vendor Challenges. These come from characters like Zavala and Shaxx, and require you to knock out a certain number of Bounties in order to get your prizes. Those prizes? A random piece of loot and a chunk of Bright Dust.

A third option is the Season Pass. Both the free and premium tiers of the Pass drop Bright Dust at set intervals. In Season of the Splicer, you can find Bright Dust rewards at tiers 9, 19, 29, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 78, 80, 90, 96, and 100. Those in bold are for the premium tier only.

Finally, you’ll want to check out the Additional Bounties from Vendors. These typically award you a bunch of XP, as well as — you guessed it — some Bright Dust.

If you focus on tapping into all three of these sources, you should find that you have a healthy stockpile of Bright Dust available to spend on things in the Eververse Store. You’ll need all the Bright Dust you can get, too — starting in Season of the Splicer, things in the store that sell for this particular currency are becoming a lot more expensive.

Now that you know how to get Bright Dustin in Destiny 2, try not to spend it all too quickly. You never know when that next awesome emote might pop up.
