In Call of Duty, your Sidearm is your weapon of last resort. That’s the gun you’re shooting because the other one is out of bullets. In Destiny 2, however, Sidearms can be your main squeeze. They’re beastly, and — given the sci-fi fantasy setting of the game — do things you would not expect them to. Case in point: Devil’s Ruin shoots a fiery freakin’ laser. Knowing that, you are no doubt going to want it in your collection. So with that, we should really get into the beef on how to get Devil’s Ruin in Destiny 2.

How to get Devil's Ruin in Destiny 2

Devil’s Ruin once had an amazing quest connected to it

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times — the Destiny Content Vault is awful, as is the forced FOMO of seasonal content. So much great stuff has been removed due to the Vault and due to seasons ending. One such item is the Devil’s Ruin quest, which featured a mission full of incredible banter from Osiris, Lord Shaxx, and Saint-14. I’ve embedded a video below so you can enjoy it.

Getting through this quest used to be the way to get Devil’s Ruin. With it being gone, you’ll need to take another avenue. This one is far easier, but boy, is it ever a) anticlimactic and b) a lot less funny.

Devil’s Ruin can be purchased in the Tower

Monument to Lost Lights

Destiny 2‘s Monument to Lost Lights serves as a way for players to pick up Exotic weapons they missed out on for one reason or another. Yes, it would be much cooler to experience their original Missions or Quests, but in lieu of that, there at least exists a way for you to get your hands on these goodies. Devil’s Ruin is located here, though you will need a few things first:

Once you’ve got all that safely tucked away in your inventory, head into the Monument to Lost Lights and move to the section labeled “Shadowkeep Exotics.” Here, you’ll find Devil’s Ruin five spots over from the left. Hit the button called out on the screen to buy it, and walk away as the proud new owner of a super fun Exotic Sidearm.

That’s how to get Devil’s Ruin in Destiny 2

Devil’s Ruin has its uses in PvE, and is also buckets of fun in PvP. Take it into the activities you typically run and see what you think of it. I promise you that, even if you don’t like it, you’ll at least find it more useful than a Call of Duty Sidearm.
