Ever wish you could make up for all your missed opportunities? Like way back in Destiny 1 when you couldn’t get a Fatebringer to drop. Don’t you wish you’d raided harder? Really put the time in to keep pulling that slot machine lever so you could experience the gun in all its glory? Well, you can’t travel back in time, but sometimes life does give you a re-do. Here’s how to get Fatebringer in Destiny 2. Make the most of this moment.

The gun was originally a sought after drop from Destiny 1’s Vault of Glass

A couple years back, all you had to say was “Templar hard” to send a Destiny player into a fit of rage. It was this encounter in Destiny’s Vault of Glass Raid — on hard difficulty — that dropped Fatebringer, one of the most beloved Hand Cannons in the game. When it dropped, anyway. Getting it as a reward required a lot of luck and a lot of patience.

What made the gun so special to so many? Way back when, primary weapons didn’t usually have elemental types. However, Fatebringer did — and it came packing Firefly and Outlaw, too, which helped a lot of players put on fireworks shows. The gun did return in Year 3 of Destiny in Age of Triumph’s Vault of Glass, but it came without its Arc element. It just wasn’t the same.

Now you can get it in Destiny 2, once again from the Vault of Glass

In 2021, Bungie again went searching in the closet and dusted off Vault of Glass for its third appearance — this time inside Destiny 2. That is where you’ll find Fatebringer, though you must be warned: the gun really isn’t the same as its Destiny 1, Year 1 ancestor.

You can get Fatebringer as a reward from completing the Templar section of Vault of Glass, or from the chest that follows the Gatekeepers section (a.k.a. the Gorgons). Perhaps you only want it for your collection and you’ll be pleased with whatever roll you get. But you should know that the gun does indeed roll with random perks aside from Firefly. And the Destiny 2 version of the gun — just as the Destiny 1, Year 3 version — is Kinetic.

And that’s how to get Fatebringer in Destiny 2

The good news is, you got the information you came here for. One of the best Hand Cannons from the first Destiny is back, baby. And now you know how to get Fatebringer in Destiny 2.

Be sure to take some photos of your Guardian if you’re able to nab this fairly rare drop. And definitely take the gun into the Crucible once you’ve acquired it. You’ll have an amazing time.
