Destiny 2 has played host to many sick weapons over the years. Where Submachine Guns are concerned, by far the most deadly has been the Recluse. This little Legendary packed a punch when it first fell into the hands of Crucible players around the world. Perhaps you’ve heard tales of its past dominance, and you want to know how to get the Recluse in Destiny 2 — or are wondering if you still can.
Good news! The Recluse is indeed still available and can be acquired in the game. There are some caveats to that, which we’ll get into. But if you want to nab one for yourself and jump into some PvP for tiny gun fun, it’s totally possible. Here’s how.
The Recluse was once a Crucible Ritual weapon
Once upon a time, getting yourself the Recluse took a bit of work. In the Crucible’s Competitive playlist, you had to reach the rank of Fabled. Then, on top of that, you had to win 100 Crucible matches. One hundred! Imagine playing some Control knowing that a big fat L would mean you wasted approximately 10 minutes on your journey to the Recluse. Oof.
When Sunsetting came to Destiny 2, however, the Recluse got left behind. It became a weapon that was no longer infusable, and though Bungie later went back on the Sunsetting of weapons, the ones that got caught in that initial wave never got a reprieve. Because it was no longer viable in Power-enabled playlists, it was no longer obtainable via a Quest. Those who wanted to get it would have to do so in some other way, and that other way came via the channel you’ll learn about below.
You can now buy the Recluse in the Tower
In Destiny 2, the Monument to Lost Lights is like a closet for all of the cool weapons you can no longer get from their original sources. If a planet got swallowed up by the Darkness, or a Raid got Vaulted, for example, you’ll likely find an Exotic or Legendary from it in the Monument. That’s the source for how to get The Recluse in Destiny 2 now, as you can buy it — provided you have the proper currencies and materials, of course. You’ll need the following:
- 75,000 Glimmer
- 100 Legendary Shards
- Two Enhancement Prisms
- One Ascendant Shard
Once you have all that, head on over to the Monument and open it up. Browse to the area called “Legacy Gear,” and then find the section for Crucible Weapons. After that, look five spots from the left and you’ll find the Recluse. Make your purchase and, just like that, you have what once was the nastiest Submachine Gun in all of Destiny 2.
And that’s how to get the Recluse in Destiny 2
The Recluse sadly had a bit of its bite taken away after it became one of the de facto Crucible choices. With it in one slot and one of a myriad of other Crucible standouts (like Revoker or Mountaintop), you could do some serious damage and not use one single Exotic.
Even though you can’t infuse Recluse up to maximum Power Level anymore, it is still plenty viable in Quickplay Crucible lists. So take it on in there if you’re able and see what it can do. You won’t be disappointed.
