Imagine an Exotic Grenade Launcher that can essentially shoot out Taken goo pools. Indeed, one such gun exists in Destiny 2, and it’s as good as it sounds. Some affectionately refer to this tool of destruction as Blighting Lion. For everyone else, it is Witherhoard. And since you’re here, you’re probably wondering how to get Witherhoard in Destiny 2. Below, we’ll walk you through the steps you need to take so you can make this beast yours.
Witherhoard originally comes from Season of Arrivals
If you’re familiar at all with Destiny 2, you know that content comes and goes quite a bit. This is true of everything in Season of Arrivals, which ran up until the start of Beyond Light and introduced Witherhoard as a Seasonal Exotic.
With Season of Arrivals now a fair bit back in the past, the opportunity to get Witherhoard through the Season Pass is gone. Fortunately, however, there still exists a channel through which you can get this deadly Exotic Grenade Launcher, though it’s going to cost you a pretty penny (plus a lot more). Let’s find out what that is.
You can buy Witherhoard from the Monument to Lost Lights
The Monument to Lost Lights is a helpful kiosk you’ll find at the Tower, nestled in between the Vault terminals on the right of where you spawn in. It basically serves as a shop for all the weapons you missed out on getting from content that is no longer in the game. If you didn’t get the mightiest drop from a Raid that was removed, or complete a fun Quest to pick up some other Exotic toy before it was removed, the Monument is your key to reaching back in time to pluck that weapon up.
You can buy Witherhoard here, provided you have the correct currencies and resources on hand. Here’s what you need:
- One Exotic Cipher
- 100,000 Glimmer
- 150 Glacial Starwort
- One Ascendant Shard
Once you have all that sitting in your inventory, open the Monument, go to the section called “Shadowkeep Exotics,” and look about eight spots over from the left. Hover over Witherhoard, press the button called out on the screen to buy, and ta-da — you now wield Taken energy in the form of an Exotic Grenade Launcher.
And that’s how to get Witherhoard in Destiny 2
Witherhoard is one of those Exotic weapons that is actually pretty versatile when it comes to PvP and PvE use. It slays in the Crucible, particularly when you’re playing some flavor of Control and need to keep your point clear of bad guys. It also works really well for add clear in PvE, as Witherhoard really gobbles up weaker enemies and can really do some serious damage to the beefier ones, too.
You do have to give up your Exotic slot to a Grenade Launcher, so that is one thing to consider. I think you’ll find this one is worth that sacrifice, though. It’s just that good.
