Though the Tekken series has put the main focus on the rivalry between Jin and Kazuya, there is also another more friendly rivalry going on between Jin and fighter Hwoarang.

Hwoarang Officially Revealed for Tekken 8

It’s time to kick it up a notch.

Hwoarang is back on his feet in #TEKKEN8!

Hwoarang was introduced back in Tekken 3 and is a specialist in Taekwondo. Though Jin is a balanced fighter all around, Hwoarang is known to be very effective with his kicks.

Players could actually take control of Hwoarang’s master Baek in previous games, but it looks like Bandai decided to slowly phase Baek out by not having him included in the Tekken 7 roster.

Going back to Hwoarang though, he’s kind of considered the Ken of the Tekken franchise compared to Jin’s Ryu, and it’s always fun to see the two go toe-to-toe. With the Kazama family drama having taken over the face of the Tekken franchise, it’s still great to see a classic fighter rivalry in the series like the one between Jin and Hwoarang.

Hopefully the developers have thought of a girl Hwoarang in the future because even Ken could have used his own version of Sakura. It’s just a pitch.

The TEKKEN series is breaking into a new era! The longest-running story in a video game franchise is coming back with state-of-the-art graphics and powerful new rivalries. Stay tuned for TEKKEN 8!

Tekken 8 has no release date, but hopefully, it will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime this year.
