Back when Insomniac revealed Spider-Man 2, we also got a tease for a Wolverine game. We haven’t gotten an update on the title yet, but while some were hoping for a release this year, it looks like we would have to wait a bit longer.
As pointed out by PlayStation Lifestyle, the latest trailer for PlayStation’s incoming games for 2023 didn’t have any update on Wolverine, which means that we won’t be getting the game this year. I guess the fact that we also haven’t been getting any new previews for the game means that the release is still pretty far off.
If anything, I think Insomniac would be too busy working on the release of the highly-anticipated Spider-Man 2. With that game expected to be massive after the success of the first Spider-Man, you’d think they’d want to put all their focus on that instead of a Wolverine game that a lot of fans aren’t even sure about when it comes to expectations.
When the game was initially announced, the first thought that crosses fans minds is that it would be like the open-world of the Spider-Man games, but instead we’ll have Logan as the lead. With Logan not really being a ‘traversal’ hero, I think we could get something of a more contained world like The Last of Us, with Logan going through a narrative that will have him scratching up foes or sneaking around. Since it’s a popular comic book property, I’m not expecting anything less than the AAA treatment.
Then again, I am just speculating. Until Insomniac drops an update, all we can really do is guess.
No release date has been set for Wolverine, but Spider-Man 2 is set to come out for the PS5 this fall.
