After the star-studded Death Stranding which featured Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen, Hideo Kojima looks to be bringing in more stars for his next title, starting with Elle Fanning. Now it seems he’s found another heavy-hitter to join the cast.
In a recent post from Twitter, Kojima shared a meeting with Ma Dong-Seok a.k.a. Don Lee, who famously starred in Train to Busan and Marvel’s recent Phase 4 entry, Eternals. Check this out:
Take note, Kojima doesn’t really say that Ma is involved in the game directly, but there is a good chance that he’s gotten scanned for a character model or is planning to have a session at Kojima Productions. I mean, if Kojima can put Guillermo del Toro and Conan O’Brien in games, then he would probably want to use that same tech on an onscreen actor like Ma.
Under the Konami brand, Kojima was able to deliver a lot of crowd-pleasing titles with the Metal Gear Solid franchise, but with him going solo with KojiPro, Kojima has now been allowed to go nuts with his creative vision—for better or worse. While there were some who loved Death Stranding as a ‘work of art’, the game wasn’t really considered an audience favorite.
Who knows, maybe this next title will be more crowd-friendly, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
No release date has been announced for Hideo Kojima’s next game, but a lot of fans are hoping they get some kind of teaser or update during The Game Awards 2022 which takes place on Dec. 9.
