It’s certainly a week for huge drops. Besides the premiere for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and the release of God of War Ragnarok, SEGA is also gearing up for the launch of Sonic Frontiers. The game promises to be a massive new step in the Sonic franchise, and we have a new ‘showdown’ trailer showcasing some bosses and other colourful worlds.

Watch this:

In Sonic Frontiers, you’ll need every tool at your disposal to defeat the powerful enemies that await you on the Starfall islands. Luckily Sonic came prepared! With new, upgradeable combat abilities, you have more options than ever before to approach battles YOUR way. Use all of these skills and more to become the most formidable force on the frontier!

While previous trailers for the game have only given us a look at Starfall Islands, this new trailer actually brings us to some more colourful levels that are more familiar for Sonic fans. We also get a look at a bunch of different characters.

Though Sonic usually goes up against the equally cartoonish Dr. Robotnik in the games, I have to say, the enemies in this game look like Sonic was plucked from his own world and dropped into a Square Enix game. I mean, the ‘biblically accurate angel’ bosses look like they’ve come out of something like Death Stranding or NieR: Automata. It’s certainly a new direction, and hopefully a treat for new and longtime fans.

Sonic Frontiers launches on Nov. 8 for PC, PlayStation 4|5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
