Disney IP may be dominating the news cycle the past weekend thanks to D23, but Ubisoft has also dropped a huge reveal for the next Assassin’s Creed game.
Here’s a look at the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage:
Here’s the official description:
In the ninth century CE, Baghdad is at its height, leading the world in science, art, innovation, and commerce. Amid its bustling urban landscape, a conflicted young orphan with a tragic past must navigate the streets to survive. Experience the story of Basim in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
In Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you are Basim, a cunning street thief with nightmarish visions, seeking answers and justice. After an act of deadly retribution, Basim flees Baghdad and joins an ancient organization – The Hidden Ones. As he learns their mysterious rituals and powerful tenets, he will hone his unique abilities, discover his true nature, and come to understand a new Creed – one that will change his fate in ways he never could have imagined.
I’ll admit, Basim’s origin looks a lot like Disney’s Aladdin, what with him being caught for stealing and trying to parkour his way out of trouble, but I guess Aladdin didn’t get recruited by a secret assassin cult by the end of his movie.
While the AC games have gradually gotten larger and larger, word has it that Mirage will be a return to form for the franchise; which is kind of a relief for me, who prefers not having so many choices when it comes to my games.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to come out sometime in 2023 for the PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
