Fans were shocked last weekend when news came out that Lance Reddick (Destiny, Horizon Zero Dawn) had passed away; and while tributes for Reddick have been going out online, one studio has announced another project from Reddick that will release posthumously.
As it turns out Reddick plays the lead Hellboy in the upcoming roguelite game, Hellboy Web of Wyrd. Here’s the post from the official game:
So far we’ve only got a minute of Hellboy Web of Wyrd gameplay, but it does have a small sampler of Reddick’s voice as the Right Hand of Doom.
Admittedly, Reddick was keeping busy the past few years, with several projects of his releasing posthumously. Besides Hellboy, we also have the fourth John Wick movie that comes out in March; there’s also the Percy Jackson series on Disney+ where Reddick plays Zeus.
With Hellboy pretty much dormant in the box office now, it is pretty neat that Reddick was able to voice a version of the character that’s pretty faithful to the comics, even down to the style.
Here’s the official description:
Featuring monstrous toe-to-toe brawling, you need to chain together hard-hitting melee and ranged attacks to fight a diverse array of increasingly nightmarish enemies.
Like the comics, the game sends Hellboy on a series of vastly different and wholly unique adventures. While those stories stand on their own, they are all tied to the mysterious legacy of The Butterfly House. When an agent of the B.P.R.D. is sent on a reconnaissance mission to the mansion and promptly goes missing. It’s up to you – Hellboy – and your team of Bureau agents to find your missing colleague and uncover the secrets of The Butterfly House.
Hellboy Web of Wyrd is yet to receive a release date, but fans are hoping the game launches sometime within the year.
