When Judgment arrived in 2019, it served as a more serious, more suspenseful look at the Yakuza universe. Now a sequel is on the way in the form of Lost Judgment, which promises to focus just as much on action-packed moments and dramatic story sequences.

Lost Judgment release date and more

This game’s announcement is still very fresh at this stage, but we’ve been working to grab all the important details about it and condense them into one handy article. Now and in the future, when you want to know something about Lost Judgment, you should be able to visit this page and gather up everything you need. With that said, let’s dive into it.

The release date

According to the developers at Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, Lost Judgment is still very much in development. Despite that, this new title indeed has a release date — and it’s coming soon!

Lost Judgment is set to release on Sept. 24, 2021. That is an incredibly short period of time between announcement and launch. Hopefully the title arrives without any hitches. We don’t want another Cyberpunk situation here.

What to expect

The team at Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio could’ve gone the route of making Lost Judgment a turn-based RPG, going in the same direction as Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Instead, the studio decided to veer back toward the action genre. This is pretty good news for those who enjoyed the first game and don’t want a huge departure from that kind of experience.

Interestingly, though, the Yakuza series will retain those RPG mechanics in future titles. Fans will likely have some thoughts about that.

Anyway, back to Lost Judgment. Takayuki Yagami appears to be back as the main character, though he’ll have some new faces along for the ride. The story — from what we could gather from the stream, anyway — seems to focus on a revenge murder that, when examined more closely, isn’t as cut and dry as it first appears. If you like thrillers, Lost Judgment could be right up your alley. There are bound to be a lot of twists and turns in the tale Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio wants to weave.

As for platforms, well — the stream confirmed that the game will be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Reps from Ryu Ga Gotoku stated that the game will be the same across all places the game is found, though it will try to take advantage of the power of the newer machines. 4K, 60 frames-per-second gameplay was mentioned, which is great news for those who have the latest and greatest from PlayStation and Xbox.
