Dead Space may be coming back next year, but some fans have their eye on The Callisto Protocol which promises to be the spiritual sequel to DS, what with the deep space horror and horrific corpse monsters.

Mastering Horror: The Callisto Protocol Launches Docuseries Before Release

The game is set to launch later this year, and now Striking Distance Studios has released a docuseries to get us hyped on the game and give us an inside look at the making of The Callisto Protocol. Check out the first episode of Mastering Horror:

Glen Schofield and the development team at Striking Distance Studios are joined by the cast of The Callisto Protocol and notable icons in horror entertainment as they go behind the scenes of the game and discuss their shared love of the horror genre.

Not only do the developers of Striking Distance make an appearance in the show, but they’ll also brought in several speakers, all of whom have made their own unique contribution to the horror genre—not just with games, but with movies and television as well.

I also didn’t realize that Josh Duhamel was playing the protagonist of the game, but I guess more and more celebrities are finding ways to be part of the industry the past decade.

Here’s the official description of The Callisto Protocol:

In this narrative-driven, third-person survival horror set 300 years in the future, the take on the role of Jacob Lee – a victim of fate thrown into Black Iron Prison, a maximum-security penitentiary located on Jupiter’s moon, Callisto.

When inmates begin to transform into monstrous creatures, the prison is thrown into chaos. To survive, Jacob must battle his way to safety to escape Black Iron Prison, while uncovering the dark and disturbing secrets buried beneath the surface of Callisto.

Using a unique blend of shooting and close-quarters combat, Jacob will need to adapt his tactics to combat the rapidly evolving creatures while scavenging to unlock new weapons, gear, and abilities to outrun the growing threat and escape the horrors of Jupiter’s Dead Moon.

The Callisto Protocol launches for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 4|5 on Dec. 2.
