Konami may have lost Hideo Kojima, but they still have the rights to the Metal Gear franchise, and they can do with it as they please.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake to be Announced Soon?

A rumor has been going around that a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 has been in the works, and Video Game Chronicle’s Andy Robinson has given an update on his original October 2021 report. Taking to Twitter, Robinson confirms that the remake for MGS 3 is now looking to release in 2024. Here’s the post:

Robinson has also said that there were also plans on re-releasing previous games in the franchise. Judging on how successful Capcom has been with their Resident Evil remakes, it would make sense for Konami to bank on one of their biggest IPs. I mean, they are doing the same thing with Silent Hill, starting with a remake of one of the most popular entries, Silent Hill 2.

Admittedly, the Metal Gear franchise had been struggling to stand after Hideo Kojima left the studio, but Konami does have some solid foundation when it comes to the existing games. I’m pretty sure a top-to-bottom remake could be profitable, and it should entice new players to get into Metal Gear, just like the Resident Evil games have done for Capcom.

A remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 has not been officially announced by Konami, but if rumors are to be believed, we could get an announcement around E3 2023 later this June.
