A year ago, it was announced by Microsoft that it had plans to acquire Activision Blizzard. The deal was then held back because the CMA (UK’s Competition and Markets Authority) claimed the deal could impact the future of the cloud gaming market.

Microsoft's $69 Billion Acquisition of Activision Blizzard Allegedly Pushing Through

Gamers have been waiting for months to wonder what the final verdict on the acquisition would be, and now Reuters is claiming that the EU antitrust regulators are looking to clear Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision by next week, May 15 (the deadline for the decision was set for May 22).

Microsoft acquiring Activision is considered one of the largest deals ever made in gaming. With Blizzard’s massive scope, you can imagine it would be a huge feather in the cap of Microsoft, who had also recently acquired Bethesda.

With PlayStation having some huge exclusives on their side with The Last of Us, Horizon, God of War, Spider-Man, and Final Fantasy, Xbox has been trying to scramble to get some big-name franchises to be exclusive to their platform.

Even though it’s been said that the series X|S is the more impressive console regarding technical specs, the PlayStation still managed to draw audiences with its library of great exclusives. What else will Xbox dangle at players, Gears of War and Halo?

We don’t have any official statement from the EU regulators, but hopefully, we get something by next week. All we can do now is wait.
