The Tom Holland hype train continues to chug as Sony’s Uncharted movie is set to hit theaters next week. Just in, we have a new clip from the movie, and it has Nathan Drake doing some suave bartending while at the same time some tight action scenes.
Watch this:
While I’m still perplexed that Sony would cast Tom Holland to play Nathan Drake, you can see some great characterization in the clip. For one, Holland is still solid when it comes to action scenes, but he does shed off that awkward Peter Parker energy for some more charming talk as Drake.
The Uncharted games already have a pretty solid story themselves, so a lot of people are curious how Sony is going to be treating the Uncharted movies. Will they have a story loosely based on the games like the new Tomb Raider, or is focusing on a younger Drake allowing for a shared timeline between the games and the film? We’ll just have to watch and see.
Street-smart Nathan Drake is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to recover a fortune amassed by Ferdinand Magellan and lost 500 years ago by the House of Moncada. What starts as a heist job for the duo becomes a globe-trotting, white-knuckle race to reach the prize before the ruthless Santiago Moncada (Antonio Banderas), who believes he and his family are the rightful heirs. If Nate and Sully can decipher the clues and solve one of the world’s oldest mysteries, they stand to find $5 billion in treasure and perhaps even Nate’s long-lost brother…but only if they can learn to work together.
Uncharted is set to hit theaters on Feb. 18. The Uncharted games are now available on PlayStation.
