Path of Exile delayed its next big content release after Cyberpunk 2077 decided to release on the same day. They said it’s because we don’t want players to have to choose. I think it’s good business to not compete with one of the biggest games in years. While we wait for the next drop in January, the developers at Grinding Gear Games are holding three big events to both challenge and reward players.
The One-Week Mayhem event starts off the fun on December 4th. To spice up each area in Wraeclast, there will be special modifiers that change every hour to make your time there more interesting. Each area will have one of the following: “20 Rogue Exiles, 20 Strongboxes, 20 Invasion Bosses, 10 Breaches, 20 Tormented Spirits or 20 Harbingers.” It starts on December 4th at 3:00 PM EST and ends one week later at 1:00 PM EST.
If you manage to be one of the top five people in each ascendancy class, you will receive a special Demigod’s Authority. I’ll put a picture of it at the bottom, but it looks like something I want. It will also show your class event rank. To keep the cheaters away from the top, you won’t be able to change your ascendancy class during the event.
Even if you don’t reach the top, there are even more rewards. Anyone who takes a new character to level 50 will automatically receive a Twilight Mystery Box. The box is limited to one per account, but you can be entered into a drawing when you hit level 60, 70, 80, 85, 90, and 95 for some microtransactions. As a reminder, Path of Exile’s microtransactions won’t boost your character in any way, but it will make them look cool.
If you thought mayhem was a breeze, the One-Week Endless Delve starts on December 11th and runs for another week. The event takes place entirely in the Azurite Mine. You will be trying to go as deeply as possible, and sulphite is not needed. You’ll take your first steps with starter gear, receive passive points at certain depths, and use the Altar of Ascendancy. You will also be able to buy skill gems. You will not be able to visit a town or your hideout. Good luck down there.
The rewards are similar. The top five players who go the deepest in each Ascendancy Class will receive a Demigod’s Authority. Reaching level 50 will give you a Twilight Mystery Box, and going higher will enter you for microtransaction drawings. The drawings have as many as 1,000 to give away, so your odds are much better.
The Three-Week Heist Flashback is the final event, and it starts December 18th. In addition to the Heist content, each area of Wraeclast will have three of the following modifiers:

Path of Exile is Holding Three Events With Prizes in December
  • 2 Additional Rogue Exiles
  • 2 Additional Invasion Bosses
  • 1 Additional Breach
  • 2 Additional Strongboxes
  • 3 Additional Tormented Spirits
  • 2 Additional Perandus Chests and a 33% chance to spawn Cadiro
  • 3 Additional Rare Monster Packs with Nemesis Mods
  • 3 Additional Magic Monster Packs with Bloodlines
  • 1 Additional Abyss
  • 2 Additional Harbingers
  • 1 Timeless Monolith
  • 1 Metamorph
  • 1 Delirium Mirror
  • Beyond

They will change every hour, and it should make your exploration more exciting. Despite being Heist content, you will need a new character for the event, and the rewards will be the same as the previous two events.
Here are some things from the FAQs to keep in mind. Each event will require a new character, and it will be a mad dash to reach the rewards. The event info will appear on the character selection screen, and you can join the event from there. Do not delete your character until after the prizes have been awarded, and prizes are awarded after the event ends. For the random microtransaction reward draws, taking multiple characters into the 60+ tiers will increase your chances of winning. The Twilight Mystery Box is only one per account.
You can read all the details by going to the official forum post here, but it looks like a solid three weeks of events with some great rewards. If you’ve been looking to play an action RPG with tons of loot without having to spend any loot of your own, Path of Exile is a free-to-play game that I highly recommend.
