Those of you who can’t get their hands on a PlayStation 5 may be in luck — if you have a gaming PC, anyway. As discovered by VGC, the folks over at Sony now have a Curator page live on Steam, which could be a signal the company is taking its PC game sales more seriously. Even better, though, is the other thing VGC found. It’s a bit of data that could point to us getting more PlayStation games on PC very soon.
If you take a look at the PlayStation Studios Curator page on Steam, you probably won’t see anything out of the ordinary in the “Featured” section. If you hit the “Top Sellers” tab at the bottom, it shows four titles in all: Days Gone, Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition, Predator: Hunting Grounds, and Helldivers: Dive Harder Edition. All of these are PlayStation published (on Steam, at least). And, again, the count is four.
Move away from the “Featured” section over to “About,” however, and you’ll find something curious. Above the label for “MY GAMES” is the number 41, which has some believing a whole bunch of upcoming games aren’t visible to the public right now. It goes without saying that going from 4 to 41 would be a pretty substantial leap.
Personally, I’m very down to see more PlayStation games on PC. I even have a mini wish list that looks something like:
- God of War
- Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- The Last Guardian
- All of the Uncharted games
Selling these games long after they’ve come out on console likely won’t hurt Sony. Anyone who was ever going to buy a PlayStation to play them has probably done so already.
Addressing this market, however, could lead to an influx of new sales from those who only game on PC and do not want to buy a console at all. Microsoft has already seen a bit of success pushing its Xbox exclusives onto PC (and onto Steam in particular). Allowing for more PlayStation games on PC could mean a boatload of new money for Sony.
We’ll be refreshing this page repeatedly over the next few days to see if anything changes. Should Sony start to add more titles, we’ll let you know.
