According to the PlayStation blog, the look for the new headset was said to be inspired by the look of the PS5—so the device would look just as aesthetically pleasing in your game room. Several design elements have also been considered to make a more seamless experience in VR. The blog writes:

Our goal is to create a headset that will not only become an attractive part of your living room decor, but will also keep you immersed in your game world, to the point where you almost forget you are using a headset or controller. That’s why we paid very close attention to the ergonomics of the headset and conducted extensive testing to ensure a comfortable feel for a variety of head sizes.

The headset also comes with a new vent system that will prevent any fogging when players are immersed, and it will also likely make the device more comfortable to wear.

With some new VR titles like Horizon Call of the Mountain announced, you can bet that there will be some more improvements when it comes to the VR genre. Fingers crossed we can get some backwards compatibility with PSVR2 as well.

No release date has been set for the PSVR2, but the device is expected to hit shelves sometime around the holiday season.
