With the last Grand Theft Auto game coming out back in 2013, fans think it’s high-time that we got a sequel for modern-day consoles. We know that Rockstar Games is currently in development for GTA VI, but what we don’t know is the release date.
What’s interesting is, a screenshot circulating on Reddit from insider Tez2 (via PlayStation Lifestyle) has revealed that the original plan for the game was to release on the holiday season of 2024. However, the studio was said to have been constantly moving the goalposts due to the massive size of the game, and it’s likely we could see a release by early 2025.
The post reads:
“I don’t think the upper management is in a position to delay further to holiday 2025/2026… Cutting more portions of the game to package into DLCs to release later on may be sustainable for management than delaying further.”
So far, we can only piece together what we can expect from GTA VI, like the new setting as well as the sibling protagonists; but it’s unclear just how massive Rockstar plans this game to be. With GTA V getting constant expansion over the last few years, maybe the studio is aiming to release a game with all the bells and whistles of its predecessor, and then some.
Until Rockstar makes an official reveal, all we can really do is speculate.
No release date has been announced for Grand Theft Auto VI, but the game is expected to release exclusively for new-gen platforms like the Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
