Respawn Developing A Star Wars FPS Game on Unreal Engine 5

As per PCGamesN, a new job listing for Respawn has been put up for a first-person shooter not unlike Jedi Knight and Dark Forces. It’s also noted that the game will be based on Unreal Engine 5. The listing reads:

“In collaboration with Lucasfilm, the Star Wars FPS Team is developing a new AAA FPS in the Star Wars galaxy… Inspired by classic titles like Dark Forces and Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2, our story-driven single player game is being developed from the ground up leveraging the power of Unreal Engine 5.”

So far, the latest first-person shooter game that Star Wars has is Star Wars Battlefront II which is mainly a multiplayer title. With this upcoming game though, we’re expected to get a more story-focused game, which could go any direction, seeing that this is the Star Wars universe.

Battlefront II fans will say that the game does come with its own story, what with protagonist Iden Versio, but the campaign is considered to be pretty short; and is mostly just an excuse for the game to show off the multiple maps and playable characters.

I would love for an extensive single-player campaign that would have us running around the galaxy fighting all kinds of aliens and beings. I’d take on some rogue Force users if we can as well.

We don’t have an official update on the game yet, but hopefully we get something at Star Wars Celebration later this year. In the meantime, watch out for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor which launches for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5 on April 28.
