Many players have been annoyed by the new popup ad window in Sims 4, raising concerns to EA about its relevance.

Sims 4 Players Aren't Happy About New Popup Ad

EA is set to release the Life & Death Expansion Pack for The Sims 4 on October 31, bringing Halloween-themed content, including new items and spooky gameplay. However, the recent addition of a popup ad promoting the expansion has frustrated many players, including those playing the free base game. It feels especially unfair to those who’ve paid for the game, as they now have to deal with ads for a product they’ve already purchased.

The big question now is whether these ads are a one-time thing or if EA plans to keep adding more in the future. As of now, there’s no official word on whether the ads will stay, but their sudden appearance has raised concerns among the community. Here’s everything you need to know about the situation and what could come next.

Sims 4 New Popup Ad Macabre Mementos Ad: Players Express Frustration

New Ad popup in The Sims 4

The Sims 4 often has game event pop-ups on its main menu, but it looks like the developer/publisher thought that wasn’t enough. Now, when players launch the game, they’re presented with a popup ad window that prompts them to pre-order the Life & Death expansion pack. If you decide to go for it, you’ll snag some early purchase incentive items, which include:

  • Lasting Legacy Family Portrait
  • Mournful Melodies Music Box
  • Plumed Elegance Mask

We’ve seen ads like this in other video games, and it’s clear that EA is using them to promote the upcoming expansion. However, many players aren’t too happy about it, as the ads can feel pretty intrusive. While the developer and publisher are just trying to make more money, it’s important to focus on the player experience.

Moreover, it doesn’t make sense to push a pre-order when the only incentive for buying it is available until December 12. This means players who purchase the pack even after the pre-order can still snag the incentive items for over a month after its release.

It’s worth mentioning that while many players have complained about the popup ad window, some don’t mind it, as encountering ads online has become pretty common these days. Plus, you can easily close the ad with just a click. However, it can get annoying to do that every time you launch the game.

Since this is a pre-order ad, it might be removed from the game once the Life & Death expansion pack is released on October 31. However, there’s no official confirmation from the developer or publisher on this. We’ll just have to wait and see.

In the meantime, if you’re looking for simulation experiences similar to The Sims 4, you might want to check out games like Stardew Valley and House Flipper.
