General audiences were introduced to the demi-god Maui when Moana came out back in 2016, but Smite is getting ready to bring the Hawaiian god to their battlefield of gods.

Here’s the official description of the character:
Maui is the premier Demigod of Polynesian Mythology. He is known for a variety of supernatural feats that improved the lives of his people. His magical hook, Manaiakalani, is always by his side.
With his strength, skill, and magical hook he fished up the islands of Hawaiʻi to give his people a place to live. Maui wrestled the secret of fire away from the ‘Alae ‘Ula birds and brought it to humanity so they could cook their food and warm their shelters. Maui ensnared the sun to lengthen the days so people could complete their necessary tasks before dark. He even grabbed hold of the sky and hurled it higher to make room for the mountains and trees to flourish.
If anything, Maui is kind of like Roadhog or Scorpion with his hook, allowing him to pull enemies toward him so that they can be easily damaged by gods on Maui’s team. Maui can also displace enemies by pulling out an island in the battlefield, which will stay for a limited time and block the way for the enemy team.
Maui also has an ability which allows other gods on his team to transport to Maui’s location, and Maui can also use his hook to swing above the fight and place himself in more strategic areas.
