The PlayStation 5 had launched with Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but fans were waiting for the sequel to the Insomniac’s Spider-Man. It’s been said that the game is coming out sometime this year, and it seems that Venom actor Tony Todd has accidentally let the release window slip.
In a now-deleted post from Todd (via Video Game Chronicle), he confirms that Spider-Man 2 could be aiming to release this September. The post read:
Looks like September! Massive publicity coming in August. Commercials start dropping in August so I’ told. Hold on to your… and hold breath! Gonna be necessary
Of course, nothing official has been confirmed by Sony at this point, but a September release does seem likely, considering the long development time that’s already been spent on the game. The way that production goes though, I think it’s normal for fans to expect setbacks, and a big title like Spider-Man can always do with a huge Christmas launch.
With the first game giving us a great roster of Spidey villains, a lot of fans are excited for faces like Kraven and Venom to tangle with Insomniac’s Spider-Man. The Green Goblin is also being built up, but I think they could be saving him to be the primary antagonist for the third game. Then again, that’s just my guess.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the next game in PlayStation’s critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise. Developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with Marvel Games and PlayStation for the PS5 console.
No release date has been officially announced for Spider-Man 2, but expect it to launch for the PlayStation 5 sometime within the year.
