With games like Detroit: Become Human and Beyond: Two Souls under its belt, fans thought that Quantic Dream’s next game Star Wars Eclipse was going to be sticking to the same kind of narrative-driven structure. Rumor, however, suggests that gameplay would be closer to the traditional side of things.
Game leaker @accngt on Twitter (via GamingBolt) has reported that SW Eclipse could be a mix of story and gameplay that’s taken inspiration from The Last of Us series. The action gameplay has also been compared with another recent Star Wars title, Jedi: Fallen Order.
For now, nothing official has been confirmed on Quantic’s part, but this could be a relief for some fans who were hoping for a more traditional experience. While narrative-driven games have been a thing for the past couple of years, they are admittedly not for everyone; but a game like The Last of Us—especially set in the world of Star Wars—has potential for maximum appeal with audiences.
In the meantime, all fans can do is wait. Even though there is a lot of hype surrounding Eclipse, there has also been a movement to boycott the game because of homophobic remarks made by Quantic developer David Cage. Set during the High Republic era, Star Wars Eclipse™ is an intricately branching action-adventure game that can be experienced in many ways, and puts the destinies of multiple playable characters in your hands, created in collaboration between Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm Games.
As of now, no release date has been set for Star Wars Eclipse, but the game is said to be coming to Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
