With Star Wars: Hunters having a presence at SW Celebration, many fans thought the game would be released this year. The bad news is, it looks like fans will have to wait longer to get their hands on what some are speculating is “Star Wars Overwatch.”
As per the official announcement from Zynga, Star Wars: Hunters has been delayed to 2023. Here’s the post:
We don’t have a specific reason for the delay, but the announcement does read:
We understand game delays are frustrating. However, our top priority is ensuring players have the best experience in the Arena.
Even though the game is delaying its immediate release, Hunters has been available for other areas via a ‘soft launch.’ Support will continue regularly in soft launch territories, and hopefully, the devs can gather enough data from players to know how to improve their game.
Of all the incoming Star Wars games titles, Hunters has been the one I have been most curious about. I do not see a robot Jedi finding its way into any other kind of SW material in the future. I guess it’s interesting to see a game that’s not so focused on any legacy characters, and everyone in the roster promises a unique play style with their mix and match of abilities.
Despite the delay, I am crossing my fingers we get a look at some more content in the future. Maybe something around the release of Andor later in the year?
Star Wars: Hunters launches in 2023 for Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
