A lot of fans are excited to jump back into the adventures of Cal Kestis with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but director Stig Asmussen is already looking toward the future.
Talking to IGN, Asmussen reveals that he actually sees Cal’s arc as a Jedi taking place in a trilogy. He says, “I always wanted to see this as a trilogy… How can we take Cal and the crew to new places beyond what we were doing in the first game?” Asmussen also says that if a third game were to happen, it could likely be built using Unreal Engine 5.
We don’t know exactly what takes place in the timeline of Survivor, but some are guessing that Cal’s faith as a Jedi could be tested with the reveal that the new big villain actually turned that way because of what they Jedi did to them.
Asmussen continues:
“We had a pretty decent idea of timeframe where we wanted Survivor to take place, what the stakes were going to be, what the tone o the game was going to be, what Cal was going to be up against, and how the crew was going to factor into that. And there’s ideas of what we could do beyond that as well.”
If anything, three does feel like a solid number of entries in the franchise. I guess some fans wouldn’t want it to overextend itself and run out of natural story for Cal. Who knows, maybe we can have a new protagonist should Cal’s arc officially end?
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is set to release for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 on April 28.
