After a successful first game with Fallen Order, Cal Kestis is set to come back for another Star Wars adventure with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The game is set to release later this month, and we have some new clips and hands-on gameplay info thanks to PlayStation.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Director Talks Cal's Updated Abilities

First off, check out this clip of Cal taking on a rancor:

Talking to PlayStation, game director Stig Asmussen talks a bit about how the game starts out for Cal, especially since he’d already re-learned a lot of his training in the first game. Asmussen explains:

“One thing I think we looked at in the first game is that that power curve came in a little bit too late… You didn’t really start feeling like you had [power], which is by design, you’re this raw and incomplete Padawan that hasn’t been trained in years. We wanted the player to feel that. And it’s around 60% into the first game, you start to feel like, ‘hey, I got a lot of powers right now that I can use to manipulate and eventually dominate both combat and the environment.’ And we definitely want that to come in a little bit sooner on this game because Cal is further along on his path.”

Though there are a total of five lightsaber stances in the game, Cal will start out Survivor with only three, but he will also have all of his basic Force abilities from the first game as well. As for new Force powers, Cal will have the power of Confusion which will let enemies briefly fight each other; Tame is also a Force ability that will let Cal mount different creatures for traversal.

While Cal also had multiple ways to travel around in the first game, his traversal skills will also include other abilities like a grappling gook. Let’s also not forget that Respawn has now added more customization options that can change Cal’s appearance, from his clothes to his hairstyle and facial hair.

Glad to see we won’t just be unlocking ponchos like in the first game.
