The Game Awards 2022 is set to take place this December, and a lot of fans are looking back at the latest year of gaming. Just in, we have a list of the nominees for 31 categories, but the biggest of them all is Game of the Year, and we have six titles going up against each other.
As per the official site, nominees for Game of the Year 2022 include:
- God of War Ragnarok
- Stray
- Elden Ring
- Horizon Forbidden West
- A Plague Tale: Requiem
- Xenoblade Chronicles 3
With the way the games have been praised on release, it was no surprise that Elden Ring and Ragnarok would make the list; but it is kind of surprising that an indie game about a cyberpunk cat could be in the running for Game of the Year against all these other AAA titles from big studios.
Besides Game of the Year, the games on the list have also been nominated in other different categories. GOWR, Stray, HFW, and Elden Ring were also nominated for Best Game Direction and Best Narrative plus several other categories.
Personally, I’m not really into the idea of awards, but I do understand that whoever wins can get a huge boost when it comes to their sales and whatnot. In the end, it’s been a great year for gaming, and it’s going to be great looking back at 2022’s titles.
